Mindful Movement

Give your body a treat by joining a MINDFUL MOVEMENT class

Mindful Movement classes, facilitated by Ingrid Musson, are a mix of movement exploration, strengthening and stretching.

If we don't know how we move in our daily lives, we have no way of changing inefficient movement patterns. In the classes participants will be exploring motions, often related to functional activities. New options will be learned through guided movement sequences, inviting the person to find out what works best for them. Ways to strengthen and lengthen muscles will be part of the class to help improve functional abilities.

Theme for February Classes will be: Help Your Low Back/Pelvis

Finding balance amidst chaos. What a great way to start the new year. Improve functional abilities through increasing hip range, strength and stability, including standing balance, which is vital to maintain as we get older. Help Your Low Back/Pelvis

When your back goes out it is usually the final straw. In the February classes get a better understanding of trunk imbalances, learn easy ways to improve your flexibility and strength. Also learn to recognize little warning signs that your back is not happy.

Back Traction

In sitting or standing side bend R/L and then rotate trunk. If low back feels tight, make fists, place them either side of low back and traction muscles up and repeat the above actions. Does that feel helpful?
